Forgiveness

Forgiveness - The action or process of forgiving or being forgiven; ready and willing to forgive; stop feeling angry or resentful toward (someone) for an offense, flaw, or mistake.

Forgiveness is not always an easy task for us to do; it involves willfully let go of feelings of resentment toward ourselves or someone who has committed a wrong, been deceitful, hurtful, or otherwise harmed us in some way. Over time if this resentment is not released it can create such a heaviness on our heart, mind, body, and soul that it can actually make us ill.

Holding on to resentment, whether it’s self-forgiveness or forgiving some else, takes our power from us; it keeps us imprisoned living in the past – Forgiveness sets us free!

Letting go of this burden doesn’t mean that we will forget how it felt, but it will release the burden we have been harbouring. Forgiveness comes from the heart; therefore, we don’t have to actually go to that person(s) and forgive them; we can forgive them in our heart.

When we forgive, we are releasing resentment, we are opening our hearts to receive love, peace, understanding, empathy, emotional healing, and compassion.

Forgiveness helps us to learn from the past without being stuck in the past, we come to realize that a forgiving heart empowers us to move forward with strength and confidence, it removes a heavy burden and enable us to live in the present, it enables us to enjoy all the amazing and wonderful moments happening right now, forgiveness frees us.

Is there anyone that you need to forgive? If there is, find a quiet place, set your intention, release the burden, set yourself free, and let the healing begin.

“Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. Be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven you.” Ephesians 4:31-32

“If I have the gift of prophecy, knowledge; and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. Love is patient, love is kind and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not arrogant, does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered, does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth, bears all things, believes all things, endures all things. But now faith, hope, love abide these three; but the greatest of these is love.” 1 Corinthians 13: 2, 4-7, & 13
